Best Plus Size Activewear: Girlfriend Collective

It’s no surprise that I’ve been a LOT more active lately. Whether I’m doing Saturday morning yoga at the lake with a friend, taking a nature walk with my husband, or doing cardio at the gym, I’m doing my best to keep up on my new, healthy habits. My companions in doing so have been my new workout pieces from hands down the best plus size friendly activewear: Girlfriend Collective!

I kickstarted my activity pretty intensely. I swear, I turned on my Apple Watch and it’s like I became a new woman! Kidding ;) Truth is, I actually went through an incredibly difficult health challenge when I got very sick with bronchitis in June 2022 and ended up enduring over 3 months of vestibular hypofunction due to inflammation from the virus reaching my inner ear (which basically means I was dizzy and off balance every single day!). It returned again in late June 2023 and disappeared within 1 month this time. With vestibular issues, unlike more common spinning vertigo, the doctors make physical activity mandatory - the more you can teach your body to adjust to the new signals, the more it will acclimate to eventually compensate for the loss. So, I was on a movement journey whether I liked it or not!

Best Plus Size Activewear: Girlfriend Collective

I knew when I started a regular fitness routine that I needed to be on a mission to find plus size friendly activewear lines (and there’s plenty of them out there nowadays, thankfully!). I came across Girlfriend Collective a couple years ago when an influencer was talking about the company, and I fell in love. Not only are they the most gorgeous colors I’ve ever seen (lots of autumnals and neutrals - totally me!), but they’re made from recycled water bottles and feature beautiful models of all shapes, sizes, races, and identities in their advertising. I was SOLD. Since they are high quality pieces, they are an investment, so I’m building my collection thoughtfully.

Bianca One Shoulder Bra

One of my absolute favorite pieces is this one-shoulder top, called the Bianca One Shoulder Bra. I’m simply obsessed, it’s even fun to throw a light button-down on top and wear a more unique cut like this out and about running errands after! All of their pieces are smooth as butter and incredibly supportive.

High-Rise Bike Short & Compressive High-Rise Legging

I love this burnt brown color (Earth) so I ended up grabbing it in both the High-Rise Bike Short and the Compressive High-Rise Legging. These two styles have worked out great for me and I look forward to collecting them in different colors!

Paloma Racerback Bra

I also love the Paloma Racerback Bra - another winner for my closet! It’s simple, supportive, and versatile. I started with the Ivory color and now have the Earth and Black versions.

Pro Tip: Watch for sales during popular promotion periods like Black Friday/Cyber Monday. You can get 6-10 pieces for a serious steal! Over the last year I’ve continued collecting a few pieces here and there and feel so much more excited to move my body when I have something that makes me feel confident doing it!
